Proposed Asset Sales - Emergency Budget

Here's another "gotcha" in council's Emergency Budget:
Auckland Council sells around $24 million of assets each year, but this time it is budgeting to sell an additional $200 million of assets = $224 million!

Attached are lists of parkland that council has identified to potentially sell.
From the Kaipātiki Local Board area it includes:
* Rosie Bolt Reserve - R25 Alfred Street, Northcote Point
* Rangatira Reserve - R105 Stott Avenue, Beach Haven
* Lynn Reserve - R107 Lynn Road, Bayview
* Land off Verbena Road, Birkdale (paper road on the bend?)

The list doesn't include land parcel numbers, only addresses, so it is difficult to tell whether council has identified whole parks, or parts of park for sale. It's also not clear why these particular parks have been identified, but in some cases could be purchase enquiries from neighbours.
Last year the Kaipatiki Local Board gazetted all park parcels under the Reserves Act and is currently developing an Open Space Management Plan (RMP) for them, so council will have a fight on its hands to sell any of them. But it's still not good news to see them listed as candidates for sale.

Please have your say on the budget here: akhaveyoursay.nz/emergency-budget
Consultation is open until 19 June.

Hi Neighbours, We would all like to pay less for something - like a rates bill. But you get only what you pay for and the option of a 2.5 per cent rise instead of 3.5, brings risk. What do you think? Read the story below:

Did you know that Surfdale in Waiheke Island received its name via a competition? The winner was awarded a section of land near the beach...

At 8 pence a day on top of a small deposit, a Surfdale section was also promoted as a sound investment – so close to downtown Auckland that “values must go up and up and up”.

Well, they weren't wrong there.

Today, Waiheke Island brings to mind sunny vineyards and beachy weekend getaways. The image of Waiheke as an “island paradise” has its origins in 1920s marketing, but the island has long been desirable even as its character has changed over the past centuries.

As we go into the long weekend and begin to venture further afield again, why not have a read of how Waiheke came to be the place it is today, in this blog about its recent history by our Project Curator, Jane Groufsky.

We are giving away our pre loved printer and scanner. Details below:

This compact multifunction printer with fax, ADF scanner and copier functions has served us well for many years.

Recently I had to replace the print-head which I had bought already about a year ago, but turned out to be faulty. The PGBK colour which is the big black colour does not print a sharp line in the middle part. All cleaning and troubleshooting attempts failed and every odd line of text looks blurry in Standard paper setting. If you change the paper setting to i.e. matte photo paper it prints normal but with a bit more ink involved.

We cannot be bothered now with it any-more as we got us a replacement printer already during the whole trouble shooting process.

So we are giving this one away for free as it is still fully usable otherwise and could be fixed completely in getting another print-head. Well I do not know if the Wifi connection works as I tried a couple of years ago and failed to get it to connect to our Wifi network. Works well with LAN or USB connections.

It comes with its original packaging and all parts, including a CD tray to print on printable Disc media. Also included are two sets of refillable cartridges that have saved us a lot of money.

It is still connected to our network to be viewed and inspected by any interested party.

Photos attached.

If you are interested, please let me know.

Thanks
