The woman, a student at AUT University, has no clear connection to the border or a managed isolation facility.
However, after genome sequencing was carried out, it is believed she contracted the virus from a New Zealand Defence Force staffer who went to brunch at a CBD restaurant, near her work.

Shane Callaghan from Te Atatu Peninsula takes on the annual Relay For Life fundraiser next weekend.
The self-described Melahomi Jandal Strutter said he will be doing things differently as the relay has been turned into an online event.
He will be walking non-stop for nine hours on November 21 at the Jack Lovelock track at Mt Roskill.
The following day will see him walking continuously for another nine hours at AUT Millenium Stadium in Albany.
With nothing but a carefully-chosen playlist that includes Suzy Cato's Sprinkle a Little Sunshine and – in true Kiwi style – three pairs of jandals, Callaghan is steeling himself for the walk.
The 55-year-old has invited people to join him for a few laps.
"You don't have to wear jandals. That's just how I flip flop. "
But he urged participants to be sun safe and, "slip, slop, slap."
Callaghan said he was blown away by the donations- so far he has raised $2,941.11.
"As so much has been donated on the page, I am doing this for all those who are going through cancer, ones we've lost (too many just recently) and the survivors," he said.
Callaghan was first diagnosed with melanoma in 2015, but in 2017, on his birthday, he was told the cancer had spread and that it was at a critical stage four.
Doctors discovered several tumours on his spine and put him on radiation treatment.
He said in March that the tumours had shrunk, but that had caused damage to his spine which means he can't ever run or make any sudden movements.
Sixty three New Zealanders are diagnosed with cancer every day.
The Cancer Society provides vital services and support to people affected by cancer, funds life-saving cancer research and does important work on cancer prevention.

The 139-year-old wall in Auckland's CBD is being painstakingly dismantled to make room for the country's largest infrastructure project, the City Rail Link.
It will take about three months to deconstruct the wall which will eventually be moved one metre east towards Queen St.
Stonemasons are cutting it into 1800 blocks, numbering each block and storing them safely off-site until the wall is rebuilt in 2023.
“It’s going to be a bit like fitting a jigsaw together except all our pieces will be rocks, not bits of cardboard or wood, there will be no missing pieces and we’ll know where every piece fits,” said Aotea Station manager for the Linke Alliance, Matt Sinclair.
The bluestone wall was built from local material by contractor Daniel Fallon in 1881 during a time of major infrastructure expansion in Auckland.
The wall's underground public toilet was one of the city's first.
The wrought iron railings, piers and the ornamental arch over the stairs on the side of the wall are some of Auckland's last remaining examples of street furniture dating back to the Victorian age.
The public toilet, which has been closed for some time, will not reopen because of space constraints.
But the toilet's cast iron screens will be restored and reinstated on site.
The toilet's entrance will be used as a maintenance access for the City Rail Link.
The new 150-metre long section of tunnel being built by the Link Alliance will connect the new Aotea underground station with the tunnel already built from Britomart Station.
Shakespeare Tavern owner Sunny Kaushal said the iconic pub will remain open during the wall deconstruction nearby.
"We have to otherwise we can't survive at all because we're struggling with mounting debts and also keeping the staff who we've been trying to support for the last three and a half years," he said.
"We've been affected by the City Rail Link really seriously, then Covid happened," he said.
"This has been a double whammy for us."

The woman also visited the following locations briefly; anyone who was there at the same time is asked to get tested and self-isolate if they are symptomatic:
• Smith and Caughey’s department store on Queen St, Saturday 3.50pm – 6pm
• Starbucks on Queen St, Sunday 11.30am – 11.45am
• Sunnytown Restaurant on Lorne St, Sunday 11.30am – 11.45am
• The Gateau House at 332 Queen St, Sunday 6.40pm – 6.50pm

One new coronavirus community case has been confirmed today in Auckland. The AUT student became symptomatic on Monday 9 November and was tested late on 10 November.
During this time they were working at A - Z Collection on High Street from November 8 to November 11, however did not attend the university. Other locations visited by
The Ministry of Health states they are investigating the source of this new community case and are asking people who may have visited A-Z Collections store on High St and 106 Vincent Street from November 7 to the November 12 to isolate and get advice on being tested even if asymptomatic, as well as staying isolated until test results are returned.
Further information will emerge once this person has been interviewed to share any further locations of concern.
