Our Essential Services Offer
At the beginning of Level 4 we wanted to do something to help. Not just at the end of the 4 - 6 weeks when we hoped to re-open. We wanted to have something available that we could send to our essential services to lift their spirits in the midst of some of the longest working days of their lives. We set up the Essential Care initiative via our gift voucher page. A honesty based nomination that we are funding to say thank you. We also had a request to sponsor an essential care worker so this was made available as well. A shared cost between us and our community. So far we have sent out 56 digital vouchers for a one hour free treatment and 9 sponsored vouchers to be enjoyed at either at Albany or Howick locations. As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙
One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.
