He loved art and painted himself. He referred to many Victorian and other paintings in his novels. I collected these images when writing my PhD 'From the Eccentric to the Essential: a study of Hardy's imagery and his debt to the visual arts.'
I'm downsizing and it seems a shame to throw out this valuable material. It took 2 years and a trip to Europe to collect.
