With everyone staying home, it’s now more important than ever for everyone to be fire-safe. People can find information on our website - fireandemergency.nz...

We’re heading into winter, and with households self-isolating together, there’ll be more cooking at home, and more use of open fires, heaters, and dryers - all things which can increase fire risk.

New Zealanders can be confident that Fire and Emergency is well-prepared and ready to respond to emergencies as usual during the nationwide self- isolation period.

Please call 111 if you have a fire, we will ask you whether anyone at the address is self-isolating or has a confirmed case of COVID-19. Where this is the case, we already have necessary measures in place to ensure everyone’s safety including protective clothing, gloves, masks, safety glasses and mask.

Did you know that milk from sheep has more nutritional value than cow milk and goat milk? Sheep milk has been a staple in diets for centuries. In the past, sheep milk was consumed mostly by the wealthy, elite casts in Europe, and was commonly known as “God’s Breakfast”.

Gentle to digest and endowed with a great taste profile, sheep milk has double the protein and much more of the right kinds of fats, vitamins and minerals, particularly calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus and zinc, while being lower in sodium.

If you are a health-conscious consumer looking for a natural dietary supplement, we highly recommend NuiBay sheep milk powder. Produced right here in New Zealand, it contains selenium which is essential nutrition for immunity. Sheep milk also contains all 10 essential amino acids – most of which the body cannot produce itself – making it a complete protein source.

● Ethical farming: Their sheep are free farmed on a single 342-hectare farm near Lake Taupo. The company only sources milk from New Zealand’s best sheep farmers.
● Pasture selection: NuiBay’s pastures are carefully chosen and cultivated to be naturally rich in red clover, essential for sheep to produce high protein milk.
● Effective collaboration: NuiBay works with farmers who are committed to their ethical values and the company uses the latest technology.
● Transparent supply chain: The whole supply chain, from grass-to-glass, is readily accessible and visible for all to see.

At NuiBay, they believe that a business is nothing if it does not give back to the community. This year Nuibay is the main official dairy product and one of the sponsors of Round The Bays 2020.

Our beautiful and friendly Delta has flown away and was last seen around Danbury Road in Torbay. She can fly well so may be anywhere. We are in Weatherly Road in Torbay (near Geoffrey Road) so if everyone could please check their gardens and trees (she could be hiding in the branches) and let us know if you have seen her. If you do see her, she could come to you if you crook your finger and offer to scratch the back of her head. She is our "baby", so please help us to get her home. Thank you.

I'm not judging the person, but the rules are clear in that people need to stay in the confines of their neighbourhood and home and that the mandate was the same for campervans. We do have a camper van also, so not dissing on that, but we live in Rothesay bay, in our home and our bubble and certainly would not be jumping in our camper to go anywhere. The concern is that people living in vans are not staying put in the one place that they were mandated to Wednesday last week, which is a big risk to everyone. I didn't have my phone so didn't get a rego, but I urge people to be careful and to keep an eye out, and also to not be sitting on park benches etc- this virus lives on surfaces. The government should be providing specific places for all people living in vans, campers, but like us all there should be no or limited mobility between anyone in any neighbourhood.

Well he's back, this time with a message for Kiwis: Stay home and help break the chain of coronavirus.
"This thing (coronavirus) is an invisible dragon. Please, stay home. Let's break the chain and save lives. If we follow the rules, we'll end this lockdown sooner. Let's slay this dragon, and get back to doing the things we love, like eating pies."
