In collaboration with the Kaipatiki Local Board, Netball North Harbour and Glenfield College, a new junior competition should be up and running by next year. Many of our local primary schools currently travel out of the area to play on a Saturday. The upgraded facilities at Glenfield College will provide an exciting alternative for local schools. I would like to acknowledge my fellow local board members for their support of this project and thank Netball North Harbour and Glenfield College for their enthusiasm for making this happen. Local schools will be contacted in the coming months about their participation in the local competition for 2019.

Today, on behalf of the Kaipatiki Local Board, I presented to the Planning Committee of Auckland Council, in support of the placed-based spatial planning work programme. For over a decade the Glenfield Community Board and then the Kaipatiki Local Board have been advocating for Glenfield. Today's decision was an important milestone on this journey. Glenfield has a significant number of Council owned assets, including housing for our older people, library, pool, leisure centre, service centre and parks. We want to support retail, entertainment and recreation while encouraging more local employment, community development and transport links. Today was a win for advocacy and a win for Glenfield.
