Environment Volunteer event November 17 in Glen Innes

Cathy McIntosh from Maungakiekie-Tāmaki Local Board

Every Tuesday Conservation Volunteers are out and about at different parks around Auckland.

It’s part of an initiative between Conservation Volunteers New Zealand and the Auckland Council to help bring biodiversity back to our central parks and to give people who are interested in conservation an opportunity to get involved.

This week we are at Apirana Reserve, a small reserve with walking and bike paths located in Glen Innes. Planted with native trees and plants it provides habitat for native and introduced bird species.
Join us at any time, at Apirana Reserve 8am - 4pm on Tuesday 17 November. We would love to have your help.

Conservation Volunteers experienced team leaders guide the programme and aim to teach volunteers about all aspects of conservation, including plant identification and planting techniques.

Join us and help out your local parks.

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
