Uplands Kindergarten at Somervell Church

Head Teacher from Uplands Kindergarten

During the Level 4 lockdown, the teachers at Uplands videoed themselves reading stories, setting up experiments, doing activities and singing Uplands children's favourite songs, to post to our online private platform. At first, the teachers were a little shy about singing and dancing by themselves in their homes. However the response from our families was so positive, with lots of lovely comments, we were encouraged to keep going! It meant so much to our children and their families that they could see their teachers every day - even on the weekends. As all the teachers are together at Uplands Kindergarten in Level 3, we were able to sing and dance as a group and keep posting more songs, stories and Mother's Day activities.

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, thereโ€™s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need ๐Ÿช™๐Ÿ’ฐ๐Ÿช™

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship โ€” like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
