Final SUNDAY AFTERNOON CONCERT: The New Zealand Chamber Soloists
The New Zealand Chamber Soloists, Katherine Austin (piano), Lara Hall (violin), and James Tennant (Cello), with Dimitri Atanassov, will play gorgeous quartets full of creative genius and inspiration for our last concert from the brilliant compositions of Mozart and Schumann.
The Chamber Soloists are all professional musicians who have been performing together throughout New Zealand and overseas since 2006.
They are currently touring and performing this series with guest violinist Dimitri Atanassov, a familiar name to New Zealand audiences: the Bulgarian-born violinist is a former Auckland Philharmonia concertmaster and member of the Ogen Piano Trio.
Katherine, of course, we know well in Thames, as she has brought her very talented pupils from the University of Waikato Conservatorium of Music to perform for us in Thames for many years and earlier this year performed piano Duets with Maria Mo.
SUNDAY 13th NOVEMBER AT 2PM, ST GEORGES CHURCH, THAMES
Entry $20 or TMG Members $15. Cash only.
Poll: Should we ditch daylight saving? 🕰️
First introduced in New Zealand in 1927 with the passing of the Summer Time Act, it's what we know as 'Daylight Saving' and this year it ends on the first Sunday in April.
While we do get to sleep in this time around, some people would like to scrap the clock tinkering for good.
And why? Some evidence suggests the time changes are bad for our health as they mess with sleep patterns leading to short-term fatigue and affecting mood. Meanwhile the hour change is frustrating for farmers and a nightmare for getting the littlies to sleep. But what's your take?
-
31.5% Yes - get rid of the clock changes
-
67.6% No, I enjoy it
-
0.9% Other - I'll share below
Don't overthink this riddle...
I have a silver sole
but no feet,
I make my living by bringing the heat.
What am I?
