Thames Heritage Festival 2020, with the theme ‘One Town, Many Tales’, takes place this weekend on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th March at Bella Street Pump House, Thames Goldmine Experience, Historic Kōpū Bridge, Thames Small Gauge Railway, Thames School of Mines with Rock Shop & Mineral Museum, Thames Treasury - Archive & Research Centre, and Thames Museum. The events around these sites in Cochrane St, Queen St, Bella St and Brown St, and at Kōpū , include gold panning; 19th century gold mining machinery in action at the Goldmine Experience; talks and Q&A chats with experts; Russell Skeet’s guided Grahamstown walk and a leisurely stroll with storytelling on Historic Kōpū Bridge; small gauge train rides, music, pioneer days storyathon at Thames museum with Rosalie the Thames Storyteller and more. Poll: Should we ditch daylight saving? 🕰️

First introduced in New Zealand in 1927 with the passing of the Summer Time Act, it's what we know as 'Daylight Saving' and this year it ends on the first Sunday in April.

While we do get to sleep in this time around, some people would like to scrap the clock tinkering for good.

And why? Some evidence suggests the time changes are bad for our health as they mess with sleep patterns leading to short-term fatigue and affecting mood. Meanwhile the hour change is frustrating for farmers and a nightmare for getting the littlies to sleep. But what's your take?
