Our services at Alert Level 3

The Team from Whangarei District Council

Northland region moves to Alert Level 3 at 11:59pm Thursday 2 September 2021. At Alert Level 3 we provide the following services:
🟢 Rubbish and recycling collection
🟢 Drinking water
🟢 Wastewater
🟢 Roads
🟢 Parks and reserves and walking trails (please keep physical distance from people outside your "bubble")
🟢 Public toilets (to a reduced level)
🟢 Cemeteries
🟢 Animal control for dangerous dogs and wandering stock
🟢 Noise control - with limitations
🟢 Te Matau a Pohe Bridge lifting
Our call centre will still be open 24-hours, every day:

The following services will be provided to a limited degree, subject to safety measures, masks and physical distancing:
🟠 Transfer stations (winter hours schedule)
🟠 Building inspections
🟠 Resource consent inspections
🟠 Some roadworks
🟠 Some regulatory inspections
🟠 Jetties open
🟠 Free parking
🟠 Library book loans extended until libraries open again
🟠 Public facilities closed

The following public facilities are closed:

❌ Forum North and Ruakaka Customer Service Centre
❌ Libraries
❌ i-Sites and the Hub
❌ Water Laboratory (public access)
❌ Clapham’s Clocks
❌ Botanica

❌ Quarry Gardens
❌ Skateparks
❌ Bike park
❌ Boat ramps
❌ Semenoff Stadium

The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.

This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
