How does it work?
Red Cross Journey is all about walking in someone else’s shoes. Choose a journey to follow, clock 10,000 steps each day between 8 May and 8 June and get people to sponsor you.
Along the way, you’ll receive updates marking your milestones and sharing more about your chosen journey.
By taking part and fundraising, you’ll be helping Red Cross do good things across New Zealand and around the world.
Which journey will you take?
Choose to walk Disaster Welfare and Support Team volunteer Kath’s journey and cover 240km during the month – that’s about 10,000 steps a day – or get a team together and follow the Tamim family's route to a safer life, covering 1,000km.

No traffic will be able to exit Porowinin Ave on to Maunu Rd during the works, however traffic on Maunu Rd will be able to enter Porowini Ave as per normal. Porowinin Ave West will be accessible to light commercial vehicles and cars from the Tarewa Rd end only, they will need to exit again via the entry point e.g. Tarewa/Porowini intersection. Note: the route will not suit large truck and trailer units as there will be insufficient turning room to get them back out.
The work needs to be done before more damage occurs and a spill results, the contractor has made resources available and we wish to take advantage of the favourable weather over the next week. Sorry for the inconvenience and we thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.

A visitor to Whangarei stopped at the I-Site over the long weekend and took these pictures of the rubbish bins overflowing and freedom campers drying their washing. Do you think this is an acceptable look for one of the gateways for people travelling into Whangarei?

Have you ever struggled with a noisy neighbour? How did you manage the situation? Should there be a Sunday morning noise ban? Maybe you'd like New Zealand neighbourhoods to be more like they were 'back in the day' with quiet Sunday mornings - or even a day of rest. What noise do you find the hardest to cope with? We have a 4 week (48 hour) programme starting in May which
will prepare you for entering the New Zealand workforce. The classes will be held 9.30am-2.00pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
There are three parts to the programme:
· Learning about the expectations of the NZ
workplace, basic legislation, employment information and ways of applying for
work
· Understanding and practising interview skills
· Understanding and using appropriate Kiwi English
in the workplace
There is an excellent and experienced tutor ready to start, with some places still available for this course.
A small fee is payable on enrolment.
If you are keen and really interested in working, for further information and to register your interest,
please contact Megan Cochrane (09) 4382512
