Northland Emergency Services Trust Chair Paul Ahlers says this support could not come at a better time with the launch of the 2021 fundraising appeal for the service this week.
“Sponsorships like this really make a difference to us and Stuff’s offering will allow us to lift our profile during the annual appeal across Whangarei Leader, Northern News and Bay Chronicle,” says Mr Ahlers.
“This should provide increased awareness of the important job the rescue helicopter performs, and highlight the need for community support as the service is only partially funded by the Government.”
The service has already completed more than 1,000 flights this year and will easily surpass last years’ record total of 1,115 flights for the calendar year.
“It means our call to action asking for donations from members of the public will be publicised that much broader and easier. We are very appreciative.”
Stuff CEO Sinead Boucher says her team is delighted to be backing a world class air ambulance service.
"Stuff's reporters in Northland often see first-hand the role the Northland Rescue Helicopters play in saving lives," says Stuff CEO Sinead Boucher.
"It's a critical service that has a positive impact on Northland and our Northern News, Bay Chronicle and Whangarei Leader teams are very proud to support the annual fundraising campaign that runs from October to December.
“And it is great peace of mind when I am in Northland with my family knowing that the service is there for people 24/7. We wish the service well in its 2021 fundraising efforts and are pleased to be able to support the campaign."

“I’m not the normal age student!” she laughs. “I knew it would be a lot of work, but I was assured that I would have plenty of support from the NZ Post team and I did feel I needed a challenge at the time. Given the current climate right now with COVID-19, I knew the qualification would be an advantage if I was to take another path within NZ Post.”
Tracy has just been named as the Diploma of Print Management Student of the Year at the recent national Pride in Print awards, an honour she says was “absolutely blown away” to receive.
Upskilling is for everyone - you don't need to be new to your industry to gain a qualification and advance in your career!
Tracy is a perfect example of this. Read her full story here.

For the month of October, we want to see how you tackle emergency preparedness. From getting first aid training and stocking up on essentials to putting together a grab n’ go bag or working with your neighbours to create a neighbourhood resillience plan, a little bit of planning goes a long way to make sure you and your community can get through any situation. Joining or setting up a Neighbourhood Support group is a great way to keep in touch and work together to reach out, look out and help out one another no matter what life may bring.
Don’t forget! This month also coincides with New Zealand’s national earthquake drill and tsunami hikoi, ShakeOut, which will be taking place on Thursday, October 28th at 9:30am.
Let us know how you’re getting prepared this month by tagging us in your social media posts or emailing us your photos, videos, or experiences to: info@neighbourhoodsupport.co.nz
