In the early hours of this morning my partner and I witnessed the disgusting "pest control" commissioned by the Gulf Harbour Country Club. For roughly an hour and a half, between 12am - 1:30am, two cowards circled around the large pond seen from Gulf Harbour Drive on a quad bike, shooting any bird in sight.
Obviously impressed with their abilities to shoot slow moving targets in the dead of night, they then proceeded to camp out on the golf course with a small fire - in what one can only assume was a romantic feast for two on harmless and native birds.
Anyone in the area would be familiar with the abundance of Pukekos, Gulls, Oyster Catchers and Geese. The morning was eerie with the absence of birds. What's left of the Geese is shown in the picture - about 75% gone.
In what country does bird shit on a golf course constitute that bird being a pest? How the hell is this extreme measure able to proceed first with no attempts otherwise?

Hi, we have a small paddock around 1 acres or more. And we are considering how to mow the lawn regularly. If anyone would be interested of grazing a few sheep on the grass, that would be perfect solution. You may use that paddock for free if you like to have a few sheep or goat. I had this made approximately 5 years ago. It is still in great condition but the wooden lamp stand has broken. I have decided to get a different style of lamp to replace it with, so the shade is no longer needed.
The dots are black and the background is a crisp white.

Romeo and Juliet
This play is one of Shakespeare’s most popular works. In Verona a feud rages between two families, the Montagues and the Capulets. Romeo Montague meets young Juliet Capulet at a ball. The teenagers fall in love and secretly marry. Desperate, Juliet and her friar concoct a plan for her to be with her one true love, Romeo – but at what price?
The Comedy of Errors
Shakespeare’s earliest comedy - two sets of identical twins wander around Ephesus unaware of the others’ existence. Typical of the best farces, they are of course hilariously mistaken for each other in a crescendo of confusions.
Real Shakespeare under the stars in the outdoor PumpHouse Amphitheatre!

The team concentrated on clearing weeds along the border of the boardwalk at the western edge of the park. Earlier plantings of native trees had become a bit overgrown with weeds so a good cleanup here was warranted. The team also managed to haul a footbridge out of the Nukumea Stream. This footbridge had washed downstream in an earlier flood.
Friends of Alice Eaves Bush would respectfully remind anyone using the park to remember to spray their footwear before entering the reserve. Keep to the paths. Keep dogs on leads. This is to prevent the spread of kauri dieback. If this disease infects kauri trees in the park it would most likely result in Alice Eaves Bush being closed to the public.
Anyone interested in joining the group to help in the park would be most welcome. The group meets at the park on the first Saturday of each month, weather permitting
