Ongaonga has been linked to unexplained deaths of people walking through a dense patch and being overcome. With this mind, I decided to have a go cutting back a particularly annoying patch on our main track to the paddock we call, Waterses.

The Ongaonga bushes were above and below the track so I had to form a strategy so that I would safe. I found a large set of old tree branch loppers (giant secateurs) in the shed and then opted to take a piece of cloth, that used to cover our cool display cabinet in my old café.

Hi everyone,
Hokitika has been named the most welcoming town in NZ in Booking.com's 10th annual Traveller Review Awards.
Would be keen to hear from those who live there or who have visited whether they think the town really is exceptionally friendly. What makes it a welcoming place, or otherwise? Were there any cafes, restaurants, shops or other places you received a particularly warm welcome?
Lake Tekapo and Oamaru came in second and third place respectively, followed by Cambridge, Picton, Invercargill, Martinborough, Kerikeri and Palmerston North. Would also love to hear from you if you have thoughts on these places. Please include 'NFP' (not for publication) in your comment if you don't want it to appear in a travel article.
Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts?

Since its inception in 1960, thousands of young people around the world have benefited from RYLA. Many have gone on to be outstanding leaders of their families, their businesses and the communities in which they live.

Delegates are sponsored either by a local Rotary Club, a local business, the business for whom they work or by private arrangements. We encourage businesses to promote their young leaders with a RYLA experience as the benefits are numerous and embrace all areas of the young person’s lives.

The varied live in week at RYLA has proved extraordinarily successful for many years. It provides an environment in which young people can develop their leadership, team work and communication skills. Many RYLA graduates have referred to the experience as “the week that changed my life”. Often the friendships made during the RYLA week develop into life time networks, benefiting the delegates in all areas of their lives.

Administered by Rotarians and facilitated by professional trainers, it targets young people aged 20-28 who may still be at university or already working. They do not need to be in a leadership role at this time.
