Dog attack

Chris from Leeston

On the evening of the 22nd December I was walking my dog down the selwyn river(just off selwyn rd crossing) and next minute a guy in a white 4wd drive vehicle (I believe to be a hilux maybe late 90s early 2000s model with dog boxes on the back)
is running a large group of pig hunting dogs, who instantly decided to attack my dog.

the owner had no control of them as they had no collars on so it quickly escalated into what I believe was a fight for my dogs life.being so many dogs it was impossible to keep them off my dog. I stood over her to fight the dogs off but she was still getting bitten from every angle,it was a real battle. after a couple of minutes we managed to get my dog into this guys dog box which was a big relief.
we parted ways too quickly though as I was so physically exhausted and fairly shaken up after that ordeal I never got his details or number plate...so really hoping someone has seen or knows this vehicle in the area?

I am not wanting the dogs put down or anything as it's not the dogs fault the owner ran them in a public place. They are trained to kill so why risk it in public areas!? What if it was a small dog or even a child?? Was a scary situation to be in so hopefully this post creates a bit of awareness of that type of situation.
I would really appreciate the owner stepping up to pay the vet bill. My poor dog needed several staples to bigger cuts and had little puncture wounds basically over her entire body.not mention the mental scars.

I see alot of other dog walkers and families down at that exact spot so please keep an eye out and keep your pets an families safe.

To the owner of these dogs you can contact me directly. Cheers

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
