West Coast hospital 20,000l diesel spill bigger than first thought
A diesel spill at Greymouth's new hospital building site is larger than first thought.
It is now estimated 20,000 litres of fuel was spilled from the hospital boiler house on August 27.
It has damaged the Grey District Council sewer pumps and meant 200,000l of contaminated liquid had to be pumped out of the wastewater system and sent to Christchurch for disposal.
Poll: Do you think banning gang patches is reasonable?
With the government cracking down on gangs, it is now illegal for gang members to display their insignia in public places whether through clothing or their property.
This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.
