National action plan to tackle environmental risk from disused dumps
Action on old landfills at risk from erosion is under way after the multimillion-dollar Fox River clean-up gave the Government a "wake-up call".
A multi-agency project led by the Ministry for the Environment will investigate options such as protection from erosion, better containment of sites, or even removal of old landfill, but no-one knows how much it is going to cost.
