Access road to Franz Josef Glacier reopens after March flood
The access road to Franz Josef Glacier Valley has reopened two months after it was extensively damaged during a flood.
The road and the track to the glacier viewing point where damaged when heavy rain hit the area on March 26, also washing out the State Highway 6 bridge over the Waiho River.
Department of Conservation South Westland operations manager Wayne Costello said DOC and contractors had "worked tirelessly" to get the valley open as quickly as possible.
