It's been just over a week since people on temporary visas (work, student, visitor, RSE) were able to access support through our Visitor Care Manaaki Manuhiri service, and we've been so touched by the response of people who've already received help ❤️
Some shared that this support will help them get through until they are able to get on their flight booked home. People have also told us how they helped their whānau apply, others explained that this support will enable them to survive while they search for work during these difficult times.
If you, or someone you know, is on a temporary visa and is really struggling right now, you can head to www.redcross.org.nz... to find out what assistance is provided and how to apply.
We're very excited to announce Competenz as our new Neighbourly partner. Competenz is an Industry Training Organisation and helps people develop their skills on the job.
We truly believe in the work they do to help people gain apprenticeships, build their skills and work alongside New Zealand businesses.
Please join us in welcoming Competenz and stay tuned for job listings and other exciting content!
Hello Neighbours I’ve just moved down to Wellington from Auckland with just my back pack of clothes. Someone mentioned to ask on here. Would anybody be able to help me out with food, Any household items, M/L/XL lclothes please? And if anyone had a spare tv/laptop or even a phone would be brilliant. I’m trying to get back on my feet moving away from Auckland for a fresh start. So far Wellington is great thanks
This week we feature Miriam.
"I am currently in a foster home with my sisters, and my foster mum says I am timid but become friendly with time and patience... can you give that to me? I would do best in a quiet and stable home, with people around to offer me support. I would not settle with a busy home or one with young children. I am quite a chatter box and have a very playful side. If this sounds like your kind of cat , please get in touch and we will put you in touch with my foster mum."
