The Upper Hutt City Council is reviewing its gambling policy on pokies and New Zealand Racing Board Venues (including TAB).
That means you can have your say on pokies in Upper Hutt!
Upper Hutt has 12 venues which between them, operate 166 pokies, the most harmful form of gambling in Aotearoa New Zealand.
More than $10.3 million was lost on pokies in Upper Hutt in 2019. Submissions close 19 July so have your say now!

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙
One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.
