Doughnuts and Stuffed Bread at Miramar Night Market

Mark from Johnsonville

This Saturday from 4 pm - 9 pm we'll be at Miramar night market selling doughnuts and stuffed focaccia.
Outside of our area, I know but if we have anything left we'll put a post on social media and deliver to the Northern suburbs as we've been doing with other markets.

On Monday, 21 November, the Supreme Court ruled that preventing 16 and 17-year-olds from voting is 'unjustified age discrimination'.

The current age of voting is 18 in New Zealand and lobby group Make It 16 have been running a youth-led campaign advocating for the vote to be extended to our 16 and 17-year-olds.

“This is history,” said Make It 16 co-director Caeden Tipler. “Today New Zealand’s highest court has confirmed that stopping young people from voting is a breach of our human rights...The government and Parliament cannot ignore such a clear legal and moral message. They must let us vote.”

Share your thoughts below - these may be published in the We Say You Say column of the local papers.

Last Thursday our charity was privileged to win the Health and Well Being category and the Supreme Award for the work that our volunteers do across the Greater Wellington region.

We are humbled to receive this award as last financial year our team of volunteers rescued and redistributed nearly 350 tons of food and over 4,000 banana boxes of the necessities of life to pass on to clients working with our partner agencies for free.

It was a nice surprise which occurred a few days after our 11th birthday.

Its amazing that our charity started in our double garage 11 years ago after being inspired by the Inside Childhood Poverty by Bryan Bruce.

This popular annual event is being held again on Saturday 28 January 2023, from 10am to 4pm and run by The Lions Club of Mana.
Enjoy the very best of locally-made crafts, artisan food, and refreshments in a lovely rural setting at the Eat Drink and Be Crafty Fair. There will also be a live band and plenty of entertainment for all ages – it’s sure to be a great family day out everyone.
EFTPOS is now available at Battle Hill Farm. The opening of Transmission Gully has meant that Battle Hill Farm now has good cellphone/internet coverage. Mana Lions has tested EFTPOS coverage in several places at the site of our annual fair. We will still, however, have a EFTPOS facility on the day supplying cash for those fair goers requiring it.

The proceeds from the day will support Wellington Free Ambulance and local Porirua Community Charities.

Where: Greater Wellington’s Battle Hill Farm Forest Park, 608 Paekakariki Hill Road, Porirua, Wellington

Admission: Gold coin donation
