Thank you to everyone who submitted questions about their sickly plant babies. Houseplants might be fashionable, but they can be tricky to get right. Whether it’s the wrong light, too much or too little water, or a pesky draft, it doesn’t take much for your prize peace lily to turn yellow or an infestation of bugs to set in.
We put some of your houseplant questions to the plant doctors from Kings Plant Barn to diagnose. Find their answers here.

He answers to Gordy, is wearing a teal collar and has uneven white socks on his front paws. He's incredibly social so will approach most people.
Please keep a look out in the Strathmore area for our baby. My number is 0275027061
Thanks, Kirstie & Dave

I am looking for a good handyman to do some work on an internal door at a property in Aro Valley. Can anyone recommend a handyman you have recently used, that has done quality work and is reasonably priced. Thanks.

As part of our new waste bylaw, yellow rubbish bags cannot contain more than 10% green waste.
But don’t worry! When you bring your green waste to the Southern Landfill it will be turned into Capital Compost – and it only costs $5 to dispose of up to 85kg!

The 42-square metre Miramar house was described as “perfect for busy singles, or couples” in the listing by real estate group Ray White. One housing advocate instead described the house as like a “more respectable version” of the converted shipping container recently listed for $390 per week in Johnsonville.
Would you pay $750,000 to live in a container?

My partner and I also like walking the Eastern Walkway and Benoit Trail and other walkways when possible. In recent years though I am appalled by the irresponsible attitude of a growing number of dog owners who think its OK to leave dog poo bags on the trails or just allow their dog to defecate without making any attempt to even flick the faeces off into the bush (which in fact would be preferable to leaving the plastic bags). A few months ago I was attacked by a dog on three separate occasions while the useless owner looked on and called to no avail to the dog. I eventually swung my fist at the dog just as he leapt at my chest snarling and he decided he better go back to his owner, who then said to the dog: "Oh he's on your trail". Today my partner and her friend were attacked by a dog (who was a crossbreed with a muzzle on) on the Benoit Trail. The owner, who had one dog on a lead and let the other off the lead just as they were walking towards him, then offered the classic reply of these irresponsible dog owners: "Oh he won't hurt you". He was very intent on hurting them as it turns out and smashed into my partner's hip before turning on her friend. I know most dog owners in the area are responsible and care about their dogs and the environment but increasingly these people who seem to think their dogs are more important than others are letting the team down big time.

Want to know when it's your turn to get the Covid-19 vaccine?
An online tool (click on Read More) which can help New Zealanders figure out which vaccination group they’re in has been released.
The questionnaire is available on the Unite Against Covid-19 website.
Users answer a short series of questions about their health, location, job, and life situation.
The results tell them which of the four main vaccination groups they’re in, and when they can expect to get their vaccine.
Director-General of Health Dr Ashley Bloomfield said the tool also provided more information about who is in each group.
“So if you’re a healthcare worker or work in a long-term residential environment, for example, it will provide an indication when you can expect to get vaccinated.
“You don’t need to provide any information that could be used to identify you, and the information you do provide isn’t saved once you leave the web page.”
The ministry said it was in the process of being translated into 24 languages, which would start to appear on the website from Monday.
The website page and online tool will be updated as the vaccine roll-out plan scales up.
“As we move through the roll-out of the vaccination programme, we want people to be as informed as soon as possible about when they can expect to be vaccinated.
“This tool is designed to make that as easy as possible,” Bloomfield said.
