I started dieting when I was 12 years old. I wasn’t overweight but I felt pudgy and I wanted a new boy at school to like me. Somehow, I obtained a calorie counting book and quickly memorized it. Each day, I tried hard to reach my goal of eating a certain number of calories. It was well below what I needed to eat as a growing child, but I didn’t see it that way at the time. I just wanted to get rid of my squishy stomach and eat a little less.

The excerpt below is from the WCC website stating glass is being landfilled and much of the mixed recycling (paper, metal, plastic) is going to the landfill also. They may take a portion but it is very dependent on how many staff turn up at the sorting centre. So for wider Brooklyn (Brooklyn, Kingston, Mornington, Vogeltown) and Owhiro Bay/Happy Valley, Aro Valley Berhampore and Newtown - for which this week is glass collection week - if you an hold your glass for another collection cycle (in a fortnight) we urge you to do so. Or if you can, please take to the recycling centre at the Southern Landfill and put your glass into the huge glass recycling bins. We hope for a full and speedy recovery to the affected drivers and sorting staff.

Rubbish, recycling and waste-
Rubbish and recycling collection

Status: Limited collection (no glass), limited processing (co-mingle)

Details: We are currently not collecting glass.

Rubbish and co-mingled recycling are being collected as usual for now - but some co-mingled items may go to Landfill depending on staff capacity at the sorting plant on the day.

With Omicron in the community, it’s important to note that there will likely be further changes to our levels of service at very short notice.

Contactless delivery for recycling wheelie bins.

In the meantime, if you want to ensure all your glass collection is processed, you can drop it at our Recycle Centre, or stockpile until we are back to full capacity, otherwise please wrap glass and put it in your general rubbish collection.

After X-raying her chest in the weekend, the vet discovered the pellet from an air rifle is lodged in her chest cavity. Given that there is a feral cat colony between Luxford St and Te Wharepouri St and many of those cats or skinny black cats - my suspicion is that somebody might be taking shots at cats they believe are strays. Regardless of the why, this is not cool, and it is not safe. Just a heads up that if you live around the Te Wharepouri St / Luxford area and your cat starts behaving strangely - check for gunshot.

Hi Neighbours
I am just putting my feelers out here on behalf of my boy Billy the Cat in the hope someone might be able to help me understand the Cat dynamics in the neighbourhood by night
Yesterday Billy had a urgent vet trip after his chin was bitten open and he had significant blood loss
Thanks so much to Brooklyn Vets they popped him into surgery straight away and he is recovering at home today
Vet and staff were amazing
Reason I am posting is while in the past wasn't as significant as yesterday Billy has been hurt in the same place 3 times now within the last year and always warranted Vet
I accept has always been my choice to allow him outside by night but I think those nights are over as something out there is giving him the bash on multiple occasions recently
I am just wondering if nearby neighbours have had any issues re same with your cats
Me and Billy have been locals for 12 years now and I don't feel he is safe by night anymore
There are obviously bullies in the neighbourhood
And there is considerable constant transition with non residents moving in and out
How do we keep our Pets Safe by night without locking them in
I guess I know that answer I just wonder if anyone close to my address has had any issues to
Appears the nocturnal cat wars are on the increase and injuries all cost money but more so emotional with one's cat being hurt
I am obviously human so I will be the first one to say I don't believe that Billy is a bully but things just seem on the increase with Cat fights
Any advice would be much appreciated
Kind Regards
Pauline and Billy
