Kiaora everyone!

This is the last weekend I'll be opening the pop-up sale. It's being held at 76 Salamanca Rd, across from Kelburn Park, today & tomorrow.

Come by & say hello! I have beautiful handmade festive decorations, jewellery, candles, & more. Lovely new books, delicious baking & a selection of gorgeous vintage pieces that you won't find anywhere else.

I also have a selection of pieces from the talented 'Ruby Crochets'. A Wellington maker who specialises in wearable crochet with a 70s flavour.

Gift wrapping's available, cash & bank transfers accepted. It's a wonderful way to support a creative neighbour, or just meet some more people in the area. I'd love to see you. Mere Kirihimete!

Growing up in my family, we all fought over food, but when I think back now, I don’t remember any of them eating stale baking. I loved stale baking because I knew I’d get to eat it all – no one else wanted it. Back then quantity was everything, I wanted more, more, more.

Alongside this preoccupation with food was a preoccupation with myself. I was a shy, scared, secretive child. I may not have been saying much, but I had a lot of thinking.

Coming into the teenage years I became very conscious of my body. I was fussy about my looks, the clothes I wore and what people thought of me. I had an insatiable need to be liked.

Look at this happy and hardworking group who represent our Tuesday Working Bees team in Gum Gully. If you’ve walked through there recently, you can’t have failed to notice the transformation – all thanks to them.

If you would like to join the group, there are two more bees scheduled before Christmas: on 12th and 19th December. Bees will then resume on 16th January. There is no commitment to come to every bee, nor to stay for the whole three hours. Bring your own refreshments (as you can see demonstrated).

If you would like to find out more and where to meet, please email:

Kia ora,
Our next meeting of the Western Suburbs Stroke Survivors will be on Tuesday 12th December at 10.30am at Huntleigh Home, 221 Karori Road.

To find us, go in and past Reception and turn right.

Did you know in New Zealand about 9,000 people each year have a stroke. Some 2,000 die from a stroke; about another 2,000 are left severely incapacitated, about another 2,000 have considerable disability and the rest have some disability or nearly recover. Nobody recovers completely.
It is estimated that some 50% of strokes can be avoided with life style changes.
Interested to find out what you can do to have a good chance to avoid a stroke??

We look forward to meeting all fellow stroke survivors, carers and friends and discussing how we are getting on.

Nga mihi,
Peter Macleod
