This cat has a wound that is getting bigger and is quite timid, I am worried it is lost, it has been around the bottom of Happy Valley Road for a couple of weeks. The right hand photo was taken this morning, if it is yours please email me grobanthea@gmail.com

"There have been some epic grey warbler/riroriro (Gerygone igata) battles in the back garden the past couple of weeks – well, as epic as it gets for something that weighs in at 6g. What I assume are three males have been wittering away and chasing each other around quite a small area when they disagree about who won the singing competition – little flashes of aerodynamic grey fluff battling for supremacy of the Acer palmatum conveniently sandwiched between a camellia, a kowhai, and a robust trellis covered in potato vine they seem to like climbing in. Having grey warblers in permanent residence here in Woburn, Lower Hutt is quite new (at least in my garden), with them only having turned up earlier this year. I hope they don’t exhaust themselves before they get to do any actual courting. This was taken last week, it is pouring with rain today so a temporary cease fire has been called. Fingers crossed they nest here."
Dogs will soon be able to 'bark and ride' with a trial starting to let canine companions travel on the Wellington Cable Car. If it's a howling success, downward dogs may become a permanent feature on everyones favourite funicular! .

I enjoy my daily walks so would love a family that would be keen to go out, explore with me and show me all the wonderful things out there. I have lots of love to give and like to be with my people. I LOVE food but this love and nose can sometimes get me into trouble. As I want to keep all the cuddles and tummy rubs for myself I am looking for a home as an only dog. Don't be fooled by my size, I can be cheeky and have jumped fences before, so am needing a home that has high fencing. I could live with older kids that are confident around big boisterous ladies like myself. I'm a real sweet heart waiting for a family to pick me. So if you think I'm the girl for you please contact us."

"Another great day for Wellington regarding wildlife. We had two youngsters in town. A young humpback whale was seen in the inner harbour. On Lyall Bay, on our Southern Coast, we had a young leopard seal, which I managed to get a few shots of!
Leopard Seals are amazing to observe, and are highly intelligent. Google, Leopard Seals on YouTube, and you will see how clever these creatures are. Leopard Seals grow to be up 3.5 metres and can weigh up to 600kgs. This juvenile was just under 2 metres, and has some growing to do!
This youngster had been in a battle ( not unusual for young leopard seals!), with some open wounds on its lower neck and torso, however was in pretty good condition otherwise."
