SPCA Pet of the Day: Meet Carlos
"Hi everyone, My name is Diego and I am a very stunning young boy. I am a great dog who loves to have cuddles, I love to have humans around me. Due to my young age I would be better for me to go to a home that has no young children. I can be a little shy with new people and then I am a bouncy bean. I would be fine for me to go to a home with teenagers.
So far I had a little bit of training, I am a bit uncoordinated and jumpy. With training, we both need to start from scratch. I am very willing to learn. You will see me blossom from an uncoordinated boy to a very well trained dog that will stick by your side. I need to be introduced to the world slowly as it can be a little overwhelmingly for me. I am great with other dogs at the centre and love to play. A home with a slightly older dog would mix well with me, so they can show me the ropes on how to be the best dog. Changing the conversation around dementia
Reducing stigma starts with the words we use, and shifting the way we talk about dementia is a powerful step forward. This World Alzheimer’s Month, Ryman is highlighting the importance of reducing the discrimination caused by stigma surrounding people living with dementia.
Caroline Bartle, Ryman’s Dementia Care and Innovations Lead, says that using appropriate language when referring to people with Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia can foster a more inclusive society. This not only benefits those experiencing cognitive decline but also their families and the wider community.
