EVENING ART CLASSES IN MAY.
I’m running evening classes, 7pm-9pm, from my Waikanae studio on every Monday in May – a block of five in total, all materials and refreshments provided, $250 for the course. The aim is to create a collage work in the last weeks, using a mix of hand painted and printed papers along with magazine cut-outs. The subject matter will be the written form. Great patterns can be generated from playing around with text so that it’s unreadable and that’s called asemic art. I’ll be teaching a range of art making techniques – trace monoprinting, Gelli-plate printing, stencilling and calligraphic mark making among others. Materials for you to use include GOLDEN’s OPEN Acrylics and High Flow, Yupo , Zeta and tissue paper, a range of inks, calligraphy pens, quills and a wide range of drawing materials. Poll: Do you think banning gang patches is reasonable?
With the government cracking down on gangs, it is now illegal for gang members to display their insignia in public places whether through clothing or their property.
This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.
