The UHCC have long ago decreed it is not responsible for berm/verge mowing and maintenance except when the verge is not "attached" to a private property or is so big as to relate more to a road in general.
This seems to be a happy compromise though there are quite a few miserable, shoddy residents who simply let the grass and increasing array of weeds grow anyway they like.
Most verges can be mowed in a couple of minutes and with many mowers rechargeable battery-operated, the cost is little or zilch. Weeding - try lawn weed spray for a start.

The national anthems went this way - the dreadful English anthem was sung by a pro performer with orchestral backing and the NZ anthem was simply music and no lead singing.
Cannot recall when this has ever been done before with no equal footing given. It wasn't as if the spectators did not play big pounds to boost the stadium coffers.
Then the haka was drowned out by that inappropriate slavery song sung by a large majority of the audience.
Maybe the song is not so inappropriate in as much as the British being formerly subjects of a king/queen and still forced to sing an anthem that glorifies the same personnel.

In fact the Auckland-based NZ Herald carried much more surrounding Wellington's success.
What use is this Wellington newspaper - the "great" amalgamated successor of the Dominion and The Evening Post which had presented a Trump-like lie in stating it was going to to be twice as good and as large as either of the two newspapers it derived from and with a smorgasbord of journalists.
Today it is a limp, dwindling, sometimes delivered soggy cut-down-to-comic-size newspaper that cannot even capture the essence of a stunning sports win by an outstanding team of Super Rugby and All Black quality players within its realm of distribution.

The idea started with Samuel Parnell, a carpenter in Wellington, who in 1840 refused to work more than eight hours a day. Since skilled workers were in short supply, his employer had to agree.
As more skilled workers arrived, employers tried to change working conditions, but Parnell and others kept pushing for better rights. In 1890, Parnell led a Labour Day parade of 1,500 people to promote the eight-hour day. He passed away shortly after, and nine years later, Labour Day became an official public holiday.
