CLASSES FOR TERM 2, 2023
MONDAYS
YOGA FOR GREATER MOBILITY – 10.00 TO 11.00AM.
This class is chair based, focused on breath and movement, ending with a relaxing meditation. Classes are for eight weeks beginning on the 1st of May. Facilitated by Jannine Sarney and held at the Womens Centre. The cost is $50 or if you would prefer to come casually, $8 per class.
YOGA FOR BETTER HEALTH AND ENERGY 6.15 TO 7.15PM.
A great way to improve your health and energy which focuses on flexibility, balance, strength, breathing, relaxation, and meditation. Classes are for eight weeks beginning on the 1st of May. Facilitated by Jannine Sarney and held at Anita’s Dance Academy. The cost is $50 or if you would prefer to come casually, $8 per class.
BELLYDANCING - 7.30 TO 8.30PM.
This is a fun class, wonderful for all fitness levels and a great way to improve your balance and maintain joint function. Classes are for six weeks beginning on the 8th of May. Facilitated by Charmaine Seccombe and held at Anita’s Dance Academy. The cost is $50.
TUESDAYS
COFFEE MORNING – 9.30 TO 11.30AM.
If you fancy getting out of the house to share the company of other women with a tea or coffee, then pop along to the womens centre anytime between these hours on Tuesdays during the school term.
TOTAL BARRE – 6.30 TO 7.30PM.
Inspired by ballet this class focuses on strength, flexibility, stamina, and core stability. No previous dance experience is needed, and it is superb for toning and sculpting your muscles in a relaxed and friendly environment. Classes run for eight weeks from 2nd May. Facilitated by Phoebe Asprey and held at Anita’s Dance Academy. The cost is $50 or if you would prefer to come casually, $8 per class.
STEP CLASSES – 7.30 TO 8.30PM.
If you would like an uplifting cardio workout which burns fat, builds muscle and improves fitness come along and try this step class. You will be stepping up, over and around an adjustable step. This is a fantastic way to improve your fitness, balance, agility and coordination. Classes are for eight weeks from 2nd May. Facilitated by Candice Terblance Maritz and held at Anita’s Dance Academy. The cost is $50 or if you would prefer to come casually $8 per class.
WEDNESDAYS
LOVE TO SING – 10.00 TO 11.00AM.
Singing really does make you feel happy, and this class is for absolutely everyone regardless of your perceived singing ability. Come along to enjoy the joy of singing, meet others, reduce stress, and improve your mood. Facilitated by Joanne Roelofs and held at The Spot, Fergusson Drive. This class runs throughout the school term and the cost is $5 per class.
LINE DANCING – 10.30 TO 11.30AM.
This is a fun class based on ballroom and Latin dance with a line dancing twist. It’s a great way to meet people whilst enjoying the benefits of a healthy physical activity. Classes are for eight weeks from 3rd May. Facilitated by Anita Perin-Zgomba and held at Anita’s Dance Academy. The cost is $50 or if you would prefer to come casually $8 per class.
PILATES – 9.30am – 10.30am
A Pilates mat class suitable for all fitness levels working on increasing your strength, flexibility, mobility and endurance. Options will be given to modify positions and you are welcome to select what is right for you. Classes are for eight weeks from 3rd May. Facilitated by Chelsea Mortiboy and held at Koraunui, Stokes Valley. The cost is $50 or if you would prefer to come casually $8 per class.
PILATES – 7.30 to 8.30pm.
Pilates is a fantastic way to move the body in different directions to help you perform at your best whether it be in the gym, on the sports field, or to help you do your everyday tasks with ease. In these classes you will work through a whole-body flow to leave you feeling centered, aligned, and strong. Options will be given to modify positions and you are welcome to select what is right for you. Classes are for six weeks from 3rd May. Facilitated by Penny Ebbrell and held at Anita’s Dance Academy. The cost is $40 or if you would prefer to come casually $8 per class.
UNDERSTANDING AND OVERCOMING ANXIETY & STRESS – 10am to 12noon, 3rd May
Why do we end up with uncomfortable, sometimes debilitating symptoms, and what can we do about them? Discover why and how the body physically responds to anxiety and stress as Camilla shares the latest science and innovative strategies for management and healing. Symptoms are often reduced after this one seminar; great healing IS possible. By the end of the seminar, you'll be able to: Identify the body’s physiological responses to anxiety and stress, Recognise the symptoms of a variety of triggers and assess the influence of lifestyle. Facilitated by Camila Watson and held at the Upper Hutt Women’s Centre. The cost is $10.
THURSDAYS
FUSION WORKOUT – 10.30 TO 11.30AM. A total workout for all ages and fitness levels combining all elements of fitness - cardio, muscle conditioning, balance, and flexibility. The class incorporates fun dance movements, light hand weights and total barre technique. Loads of fun guaranteed! Please bring along your own yoga mat. Classes are for eight weeks from 4th May. Facilitated by Anita Perin-Zgomba and held at Anita’s Dance Academy. The cost is $50 or if you would prefer to come casually, $8 per class.

Poll: Do you think banning gang patches is reasonable?
With the government cracking down on gangs, it is now illegal for gang members to display their insignia in public places whether through clothing or their property.
This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.
