There is congestion into Wellington City this morning due to the presence of eight Restore Passenger Rail protesters who are blocking lanes. These disruptions are on Wellington's SH1 near the Terrace Tunnel.

Waka Kotahi said Wellington's Terrace Tunnel is closed to traffic heading southbound, and warned commuters to "expect delays". Northbound lanes near the tunnel are partially blocked and moving slowly.

It's been said that a protester has glued their hands to the road and is needing assistance to be removed.

"Police advise motorists to avoid the area and expect delays."

So everytime a player from one side lined up for free throws in an important NBA game in the USA, a young girl would scream so loud that the entire stadium housing thousands of spectators let alone the players on the court, could hear her.
The team missed 18 free throws and the opposition side narrowly won the game.
It turned out the screamer was the daughter of the star player from the winning side and he was so proud of his off-spring.

Now in rugby, the Irish are all hushed up when the opposition take a shot at goal. That could be upwards of 60,000 spectators at a rugby international. And if a spectator started to boo he/ she would quickly be admonished.
So is it sporting for a yeller to keep putting off free throw shooters in a big basketball game and be praised for it.
Well maybe in the era of Trump in the USA nothing like lying and cheating matters.

Do we need better animal welfare rules in Aotearoa?

Brewtown Market Not Rated Among Best

If size and cover were factors, Brewtown's Farmer's Market would be ranked number one in the country. And this also takes into account train station and on-site vehicle parking convenience.

But the Upper Hutt version of a Farmer's Market couldn't make the top seven in NZ according to a recent Stuff item on the best Farmer's Markets in NZ.

The Brewtown complex has two huge covered areas sited parallel with each other for its market - one for produce and the other for everything else that one would likely see at a fair. Rain and wind are not prohibiting factors as they would be for each of the top seven named.

So it is a farmer's market with a twist. Only live music entertainment are a missing item to date.

Most of the produce comes from the Wairarapa and Horowhenua which are the food bowls of the Wellington region and marks the food as locally farmed.

Upper Hutt's Brewtown is once again the leading light for the Wellington region. This time it is in staging the four day Carnival of Lights over Easter.

Lower Hutt had the family popular lights show for a few years up to 2019 and it has been resurrected with additions to kickstart another annual highlight event at Brewtown.

So apart from world class lighting features ,experiences and attractions there will be entertainers and artists to keep those attending on their feet.

The Lower Hutt light show was a free open event paid by the Hutt City Council. The Brewtown event is partially paid for by the Upper Hutt City Council and partially from some of the funds coming from the entry fees. Most of it is under cover.

Don't be fooled by the publicised $10 an adult entry cost. It is $10 plus two sets of add-on fees if booking online and $15 if paying at the gate.

Brewtown of course offers several large restaurants so there is a choice for food supplanted with the usual meals-on-wheels.

Thursday April 6- Sunday April 9, 6.30pm-10.30pm
