Upper Hutt Mayor, Wayne Guppy is right. Wellington region and especially Upper Hutt, doesn't need water meters to control tap water supply.
Put forward the many millions of dollars to be spent on installing meters at every property towards fixing the disintegrating pipes that cause a waste of over 40% of water supplied to Wellington, Lower Hutt and Porirua in particular.
Create another one- two emergency water lakes to go with the couple already established.
Set up water catchment tanks in the Tararuas.

Hi Upper Hutt!

I've had a house/cat sitter for 20-23 October (Labour Weekend) unfortunately fall through so I'm looking for a catsitter to come and stay with my two rescue kitties, Maeve (black and white) and Luna (tabby). They grew up in a colony before being taken in by a cat rescue and are still pretty weary of people at first so any sitters must be willing and able to come and meet them and me before the sitting dates please.

I have a lovely 2 bedroom house in Trentham/Wallaceville, pretty close to Upper Hutt city (about a 20 min walk) and Wallaceville train station (a 10 minute walk).

Looking for a quiet non-smoking sitter, preferably a single person as that's what the cats are used to. They are shut inside at night and are pretty good at turning up for dinner (I shut the cat door before feeding them) or coming when their names are called or treat bags are shaken (if they're just having a really good time outside!).

Bonus if you can water and keep an eye on my (novice) gardening efforts, which will generally be feline supervised if they're still outside.

After Labour weekend, I do have a few more sets of potential dates for sitting, including at some point over the Xmas/holiday period, so finding someone willing to discuss/look at future sitting dates would be lovely for continuity.

Please message me if interested and available, as well as with any questions.

Thanks!

Really!!!
I’m sure Warehouse still make a profit at $6. It’s all those 69c (P&S price today) that make a difference to my budget.
“Shame Sanitarium, Go Warehouse”
Actually I’ll be deleting Sanitarium products from my shopping list meantime……

CYCLISTS: KEEP OFF

Cycling is illegal on footpaths in NZ apart from the likes of postal services and young children's bikes and trikes. But the laws or local council regulations regarding this are not enforced.

Pavements are for people walking and jogging, for people with dogs, for people in wheelchairs and for people who might be unstable or disabled.

Kids scooters, skate boards and roller skates are bad enough and don't get me "talking" about escooters which should be off everything.

There are as many nasty and thoughtless cyclists as there are drivers of vehicles on a proportional basis. At the very least cyclists should have warning bells or horns attached to their handle bars and operated loud enough for people of all sorts to hear.

I am a cyclist (with a racing bike and a rough surfaces bike), a motorist, a jogger, a hiker and a dog walker.
