Free Seed bomb workshops this weekend at Ngā Manu
Be prepared to get your hands dirty!
For the season of celebrating the Maori New Year, signalled by Puanga and Matariki whetu, we are offering two Seed-bomb making sessions for tamariki/rangatahi. These sessions are related to two whetu in particular, Tupuanuku and Tupuarangi, of the Matariki Constellation/Kahui Whetu. We will make acknowledgements to these whetu as part of the session.
Bring a container to take away your dirt bombs for throwing in your garden at home. Run by EnviroSchools.
Koha entry. Admission to the reserve not included. Bookings not required.
Saturday 15 July, 2.30pm and Sunday 16 July, 11am
Some Choice News!
Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?
Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
