Tonight's Christmas Parade meeting has been CANCELLED!
After a lengthy discussion with the Refinery, we have agreed that cancelling tonight's meeting is the right thing to do, to protect both the Refinery and the Community.
We will re-group and arrange another date once we are on the other side of Alert Level 2. We may have to resort to an online meeting.
In the meantime, I'd like like to set up a 'Parade' sub-committee for those who have put their hands up to organise the ACTUAL EVENTS OF THE DAY; working out who will be involved, how to get them involved, order of appearance etc. There is a lot to do and I'm very conscious that time will suddenly get away on us. A number of you have expressed interest in being involved in that part. It would be good to get you all together, even in the form of a group chat or online meeting, to start formulating a plan and figuring out the workstreams involved (then we'll make sure you have all of the help you need to make them all happen)
I'll share this notice on the other community pages too.
Thanks all for your continued support
PS: We welcome anyone who would like to help. The Petone Parade has 100 crew. Looks like we will end up having similar numbers. Please make contact if you can help in any way. We are actively seeking a Secretary for the monthly Trust Meetings. Thanks Lynette, Chair.

Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?
The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.
This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
.
Do you think NZ should follow suit? Vote in our poll and share your thoughts below.

84.5% Yes

14.2% No

1.3% Other - I'll share below
