A joint investigation between police and the Civil Aviation Authority is underway after a man was killed when a microlight plane crashed near an Upper Hutt airstrip yesterday.
Police received a report about 1.50pm on Monday that an aircraft had been seen crashing near Kaitoke Airstrip in Upper Hutt.
The plane had crashed into a bush, killing its sole occupant.
