Last night ( Tuesday) around 4am - the burglars hour - five low life guys stole a trailer which harboured a kayak and also nabbed another nearby vehicle from Fenwick Cres in Wallaceville Estate, Trentham.

The group high-tailed it up to Alexander Road via Hopkirk Ave and thence up Wallaceville Road which takes one over to the eastern valleys of Upper Hutt.

This is one of a growing number of thieving in this particular area. The paucity of use of garaging for what is intended, renders many vehicles vulnerable for low life theft.

Hello, I thought the DominionPost daily newspaper is first and foremost a Wellington Region newspaper. And secondly a Lower North island newspaper.

But once again it has engaged a reporter who quite often ignores the Hurricanes and in Monday's ;lengthy summary of the Super Pacific rugby round of matches, failed to mention The Hurricanes men who thrashed the Reds in Townsville last Saturday evening past just that.

Ok, make the next edition - Tuesday - a spot for the Hurricanes to be given some kind of review. But no, not a jot.

Is it good enough?

No wonder players like Billy Proctor cannot get a look in for the ABs.

New Zealand's small businesses have had another tough few weeks. We're calling on you, wherever you are across the country, to recognise a local business making a difference in your community.

We all love a cheeky grin and a wave from our local grocer, or a toot from the delivery driver, or a coffee order that’s ready before we arrive. These are the business owners who remind us we're home.

Give your favourite local business owner the recognition they deserve by nominating them in the 2023 Prospa Local Business Hero awards.
