Getting more Aussies to fly into Hamilton – and cycle the country’s Great Rides – are the aims of new tourism campaigns backed by Government cash.
The two Waikato-led campaigns netted just over $1 million between them in the second round of the Regional Tourism Boost Fund. The aim is to bring in more tourists during the quieter period over autumn and early winter.

A wallaby spotted in Hamilton was probably kept as a pet, the regional council says - and that’s “simply irresponsible”.
