Waipā to get a major security upgrade
A move to install security cameras in Cambridge is being welcomed by one business hit four times by ram-raiders.
Stirling Sports on Victoria Street, in the centre of the Waipa town, was last targeted by thieves at the beginning of September. Owner Sarah Nicholl was happy to hear the Waipa District Council had decided to set up a new video monitoring system, in Cambridge and Te Awamutu.
The system would cost $240,000 and include 13 cameras at major intersections in the two towns, which will be in place as soon as November.
Check out the Cambridge Edition for a map of where the cameras are placed.

From rugged campsite to 7.5ha resort
Grant Kilby has always loved camping. His mum was director of health at the YMCA, and he would attend YMCA camps in the school holidays. “I think it was mandatory that I was there,” he jokes.
He went on camping holidays with his parents, and later, took his own kids.
“Camping’s been in my blood.”
