Community Crochet Shade Sail
Over the last 3 months, 40 people from the neighbourhood have been crocheting and knitting garden string into a 10 m x 2.3 m long shade sail and on Friday 13 October, this will be suspended among 6 pine trees beside the big slide at the lake in Hamilton. Derelict Tokanui Hospital site in line for a clean-up
Derelict Tokanui Hospital buildings will be demolished and contaminated land cleaned up so the site can be offered back to iwi.
The former psychiatric hospital, southeast of Te Awamutu, sits on land taken from Ngāti Maniapoto under the Public Works Act in 1910.
