I always leave a large shallow bowl of water outside for my cat, as well as one inside. In this very hot weather the outside one is often completely empty in the morning; far more than my cat can drink overnight!
I can only imagine that there are other animals nearby who are very thirsty & have been led to my place in desperation for water.
Please people, put water outside for your animals, they can become very ill if they don't have access to clean water

😔I've come to a deceased angel💔 outside 267 Bankwood Road Hamilton. Long haired tortie, female she's wearing a diamanté collar with green heart bell on it I've scanned her no microchip found. It's to late to door knock I'm driving her to Afterhours vets now where they will hold her for 7 days. Did some research this morning because I wondered if ants would take the eggs, seems that they do. So, following some advice I found I have put coffee grounds around the base of the plant (and a jam trap for the wasps). Result! This morning there was a regular runway of ants going up and down the plants, now there's hardly any, just have to wait and see if we get more caterpillars now.

This year's event runs from March 20 - 30th with the theme being 'The Great Plant Swap' as an easy way for neighbourhoods to grow stronger together.

Here's some ideas for ways you could get involved:

• swap seeds with a neighbour
• gift a plant you've grown to a neighbour
• take some flowers to a neighbour
• organise a produce swap
• share garden tips or recipes for food in season
• create community gardens or berm pollinator pathways
• host an inclusive garden-themed working bee
• a friendly neighbourhood BBQ with homegrown ingredients

The options are endless! At the end of the day, our shared aim is to help bring people together by encouraging intentional connection with our neighbours. Whether that be organising a street party, sharing a cuppa, or simply saying ‘Kia Ora!” to those who live around you, every action helps to create a safer and more connected New Zealand.
