Rubbish and recycling changes during lock down

The Team from Matamata Piako District Council

Hi everyone, hopefully you've heard by now the way we are collecting rubbish is changing during the lock down period to keep our communities, staff and contractors safe. The kerbside changes come into effect from this week. In brief, the kerbside trucks are only coming once a fortnight on your usual recycling day. All of your rubbish and recycling is to be bagged and put in your recycling bin, so the truck's mechanical arm can pick it it all up. All rubbish is to be put in the official Council bags and all recycling in any other bag (bin liners, taped up paper bags, bread bags, etc). Any rubbish bags left on the ground will not be picked up. Refuse transfer stations are closed. From this week we are setting up pop up rubbish disposal sites. Please click the 'Read More' button to find the answers to our Frequently Asked Questions around rubbish and recycling, including the times, days and locations of our pop up sites. We are providing regular updates on our Facebook page and via the Antenno app. Please call any neighbours, friends, family who aren't online, to share the news. Thank you.
