Yes all sorted we drove to Waihi as we had no luck locally, and a very highly respected lady took them in, She is well known in the town of Waihi know as the 'Bird lady' and not only birds but she cares for any birds or animals etc and is amazing.

This happened again TODAY in the Karangahake gorge tunnel, I was forced to stop my bike and fall against the tunnel sidewall by people who acted as if they owned the whole trail.
A few reminders to users to keep left, and look out for people travelling in the opposite direction might help.
