Hokitika has been named the most welcoming town in NZ in Booking.com's 10th annual Traveller Review Awards.
Would be keen to hear from those who live there or who have visited whether they think the town really is exceptionally friendly. What makes it a welcoming place, or otherwise? Were there any cafes, restaurants, shops or other places you received a particularly warm welcome?
Lake Tekapo and Oamaru came in second and third place respectively, followed by Cambridge, Picton, Invercargill, Martinborough, Kerikeri and Palmerston North. Would also love to hear from you if you have thoughts on these places. Please include 'NFP' (not for publication) in your comment if you don't want it to appear in a travel article.
Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts?

While we are being advised by our council to restrict our watering to hand held hoses, they are running sprinklers on the parks without any restriction. Double standards if you ask me. We have to let our plants and lawns die while they glibbly pour thousands of litres onto reserves at our expense

Google "Change your bin size Tauranga" to find the form on the council website. Your order has to be in before the 31st of May and your new bins should arrive before the 1st of July.
Also, on the website you can make a complaint about damaged bins or missed collections. In my book, missed collections includes bins not emptied properly. If you are dissatisfied with any aspect of the collection service I suggest that you use the "Additional comments" section of the website to make your feelings known.

We are still open 7 days a week, including Auckland Anniversary and Waitangi Day, until the end of the school holidays. What better way to experience the great outdoors than from the tree tops.

Used irregularly for approximately 6 months when it was in our holiday home then we moved there and used consistently for 8 months (been stored in spare room since) and then discovered it was too soft for my husbands complex back and hip injuries (though we were told when bought good for injuries because of the flex gel but hubby very heavy man) I find it comfortable with my arthritis and shoulder injuries because i dont get as much pressure on them but we needed something we were both comfortable with so we have bought a new slightly firmer one. still in excellent condition, no stains and mattress protector always used. Paid $4,500 on special, was originally priced $6000 for it with base, and the mattress they said was about $4000 (we are not selling the base) msg me here or ph or txt 0211771885 negotiable p.s. we have not had covid in the house.
