What are the most energy efficient window treatments?

Administrator from Curtain Clean BOP Ltd

Did you know that a great deal of heat can escape from your home through the windows? One of the ways to prevent this, according to New Zealand's Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA), is to use and install the right curtains and blinds.

Let's find out how you can make your home feel more cosy with our range of curtains, shutters and blinds.

Use curtains correctly to prevent heat escaping
Drapes are no substitute for quality double glazing, but they can certainly make a big difference to the efficiency of your indoor heating. According to the EECA, properly-installed curtains reduce heat loss through single glazed windows by up to 60 per cent and through double glazed windows by up to 50 per cent.

The best products to use are curtains with an acrylic coating painted on the back of the curtain fabric, which serves as an additional insulating layer. Our range of readymade thermal curtains and blackout curtains are ideal.

If you don't quite have the budget to buy brand new drapes, you can affix detachable curtain linings to the back of your existing pencil pleat curtains for the same insulating effect.

Got more greens than you know what to do with? 🥦🌱🥕

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

Whether it’s a courgette takeover or a feijoa frenzy, don’t let those garden gems go to waste!

Our suggestion to you: Did you know you can grate and freeze excess courgettes to use in chocolate cake later? It sounds a bit dodgy, but it makes the cake incredibly moist ... and hey, it counts as a serving of veg, right? 🍫
