This boutique hotel offers a new owner the opportunity to combine a healthy and diverse lifestyle with an interesting and profitable business which naturally scales down during winter, allowing for a holiday.

Each of the five beautifully appointed suites has been subtly themed, providing individual charm as well as comfort. In the heart of the lodge is a spacious, recently renovated farmhouse kitchen enjoying garden and orchard views. A large woodburner with wetback heats the water for a series of radiators around the house, ensuring year-round warmth.

Organically managed, the four-hectare property provides the ability to live from the land with honey, fruit trees, berry patches, vegetable gardens, olives and grazing for sheep, cattle and horses. The small Chardonnay vineyard with a careful selection of clones produces a succulent house wine thoroughly enjoyed by guests from all around the world.

A range of useful ancillary sheds and buildings offers space for projects, hobbies, storage and accommodation for staff. Other facilities on the property include a petanque court, croquet lawn and small gymnasium overlooking the swimming pool.

This extraordinarily diverse and unique lifestyle is ideally located on State Highway One, less than a five-minute drive from central Blenheim and 15 minutes from numerous winery cellar doors, restaurants and the airport.

Offers from $2,500,000 plus GST (if any)

Hi neighbours - thousands of school kids will get a free lunch at school, Jacinda Ardern has announced.

Ardern says "children themselves told us during the consultation on the strategy that going to school hungry was a barrier to their learning."

Education spokeswoman Nikki Kaye says the Government hasn't considered that most schools don't have infrastructure for large scale food preparation and storage. She says "this would cost hundreds of millions and take away the autonomy of parents to provide lunch for their children".

What are your thoughts? Do you think this is a fantastic or flawed idea? Would you prefer that schools prepared your child's lunch?

It’s almost that time of year again when people all across Aotearoa spend some time cleaning up beaches, picking up litter, removing graffiti, planting trees and much more. We also work in schools educating our future generations on how to be tidy Kiwis and protect our beautiful country.

We’re doing our bit, with events aimed at cleaning up our environment planned to coincide with the week, from September 9 – 15.

Environmental ranger Shannon Hanson has been at the forefront of organising the week’s events.

“The Keep New Zealand Beautiful Clean Up Week is always a great way to rally the community together to clean up the Taupō District,” she said.

“We can’t let all of our keen volunteers go hungry either – we’ll be serving pancakes as a thank you to those doing their bit to clean up our environment and help look after the place we love!”

These events are also part of Conservation Week 2019 - www.conservationweek.org.nz....

If you can’t make either of the below dates, we will also provide support and supplies to any schools or businesses that want to do their own clean up throughout the week, so no one misses out on being a part of this initiative.

Radio frequency identification technology is to be installed in Taupō and Turangi libraries.

The new technology means library users can issue, return and renew books themselves via ‘checkout’ kiosks and it replaces the older barcode system. As well as being more convenient for users it also frees up library staff from having to manually manage books.

Head of community, culture and heritage Dylan Tahau said radio frequency identification is the industry standard and library staff would be on hand to help users with the new system.

“Radio frequency identification has been adopted by most libraries throughout New Zealand and it’s easy to use and saves time for library users. It’s also great for our library staff as it means they don’t have to be in the back rooms processing books and can instead be out on the floor helping people get the most out of their library. While there won’t be an issuing desk anymore there will still be the same number of staff there to help, and they will be easy to identify as they will be wearing branded t-shirts,” he said.

The new technology will be installed over the coming weeks and will go online on September 13.

Massive queues, overcrowded car parks and delayed bus shuttles are just a few of the issues turning people away from the ski fields.

What's your experience here? Do you think it's too crowded?
