The announcement comes after Sunday’s move to alert level 2 in response to a growing number of COVID cases in Auckland, and the necessary decision to postpone the event from this Saturday, March 6 due to the 100-person cap on numbers.
Mr Trewavas said Nutri-Grain IRONMAN New Zealand held premiere status on the district’s event calendar and he praised the work of everyone involved to reach a postponement date quickly.
“I understand this was achieved with unwavering support from all corners of our community and in the true Nutri-Grain IRONMAN New Zealand spirit - anything is possible,” he said.
The event will only be held if the Government’s COVID-19 restrictions allow it.
Taupō man Edward Peachey who has end stage kidney failure wants to pay forward his mobility scooter.
Currently in the process of raising funds to cover the lease and eventual purchase of a two-seater Kiwi Mobility Scooter, Peachey said he was opting for a larger model so he could help others out.

Currently in the process of raising funds to cover the lease and eventual purchase of a two-seater Kiwi Mobility Scooter, Peachey said he was opting for a larger model so he could help others out.
“For example a grandmother getting prescriptions - could be a service I could provide,” he said.
“Helping little old ladies cross the road with groceries. I could give them a lift. I love doing things for people.
“The health system has looked after me and I want to pay it forward.”
Work and Income New Zealand has provided Peachey with a deposit and he is applying to various other agencies for grants.
He is also collecting donations via a social media page.
Peachey said he travelled to Hamilton three times a week for dialysis.
He had had various health complications arising from the renal disease but was determined “to get out and about and have that independence and freedom.
“I don’t want to stay in bed.”
While his son had offered to be a kidney donor, Peachey said he didn’t like the idea of reducing his son’s quality of life.
Last week Taupō Mayor David Trewavas, himself a kidney transplant recipient, assisted Peachey with some form filling for his grant applications.
“I know what it’s like,” said Trewavas. “Though sometimes donating is harder on the donor.”

From 6am tomorrow morning, Auckland will move to Alert Level 3 and the rest of New Zealand will move to Alert Level 2. The measures will remain in place for the next seven days.

Ardern has confirmed that health authorities have found a possible person to person link for how Case M and N picked up Covid-19. This could eliminate concern that there are other chains of transmission to identify.
Ashley Bloomfield asked people to keep an eye out for atypical symptoms
"This new variant of the virus, the B117, does seem to be presenting with symptoms that are not the typical respiratory symptoms," he said.
If you have muscle aches, do consider this might be a Covid-19 symptom.

Auckland is now at Alert Level 3 and the rest of the country will move to Alert Level 2 until at least 6 March.
Here's what you need to know:
- Case M, the latest Covid-19 case, is a 21-year-old male, the older sibling of a Papatoetoe High School student.
- If you have symptoms of concern, call the NZ Covid-19 Healthline on 0800 358 5453 or call your GP.
- Find your closest Covid-19 testing location on the Healthpoint website
- Essential services such as supermarkets and pharmacies will remain open.
- Customer-facing businesses will need to move to non-contact methods of payment and collection.

Would you support a predator-free, fenced area in an area near you?
A kiwi hatchery near Taupō has welcomed its 100th kiwi chick after opening just over a year ago.
The Crombie Lockwood Kiwi Burrow is a specialist facility which incubates, hatches and raises kiwi; preparing them for release in predator-free areas around the country.
While reaching this significant milestone, the facility also has 12 eggs in incubation and 17 chicks waiting to be released from the brooder room.
When kiwi chicks get to four-weeks-old, they will be released into Mountain Maungatautari predator-free sanctuary. The offspring of sanctuary kiwi are released into other parts of the North Island to establish new kiwi populations or to boost existing ones in predator-free areas.

As students adjusted to the shift in their educational environment, many schools were ill-prepared to move to quickly to online learning. Schools such as St Peter’s in Cambridge were readily prepared for a seamless transfer between classroom and digital learning.
With each student ready to use online platforms such as Google Classroom and Hangouts, a streamlined shift was enabled as soon as the lockdown occurred.
