Increasing traffic volume strengthens community's resolve to fight for Woodend Bypass
Supporters of a bypass around a North Canterbury town have been galvanised by the Government's plans to inject more money into road and rail.
Despite protests, a petition and a series of meetings, Woodend residents had become resigned to a 10-year wait after the NZ Transport Agency confirmed the bypass around their town was not on its short-term agenda.
But Waimakariri MP Matt Doocey said there was renewed vigour to fight for the project as the road was getting busier every year.
