First Hanmer Springs Fete popular
About 2000 people attended the inaugural Hanmer Springs Fete at the old Queen Mary Hospital site on Friday.
The largely unused hospital grounds were bustling with fete-goers, 140 stallholders and live entertainment in what was a first for Hanmer Springs village.
Organisers Abby France and Catherine Batterson said the weather on Friday was perfect for the "absolutely amazing event".
The fete focused on highlighting great local produce, with stallholders selling everything from locally-grown hazelnuts to hand-crafted wine barrels.
Batterson said the event reaffirmed Hanmer Springs' growing reputation as a boutique shopping and event destination.
"[We] focussed on bringing in really high quality products from all over the country – and items you cannot find in a shopping centre," she said.
