Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency says work will be under way from 7pm to 6am in the Lineside Rd/Smith St overpass area for about five nights. Contractors will be installing temporary steel barrier to create a safe work site.
“The detour will take drivers to the Lineside Rd/Smith St offramp, across the overpass, and back onto the motorway using the northbound on-ramp,” journey manager Tresca Forrester says. “It will be well signposted.”
Temporary traffic lights on the overpass will be used to ensure safe access for drivers using Smith St and Lineside Rd, as well as the SH1 detour.
The southbound lane of SH1 will remain open, with a temporary speed limit of 50kmh past the work site.
This work is part of the SH1 Cam River to Tram Rd Safety Improvements Project, designed to improve the safety and resilience of the highway north of Christchurch.

So I gave out a lot of parcels of those to anyone I knew who needed it.”

In a statement on its Facebook page on Tuesday, Rangiora Promotions said the team had been working hard to find a way to proceed, but had been forced to cancel the events.
"Unfortunately, much like many other businesses and events around the country, we are susceptible to the impacts of the current pandemic and it's associated alert level restrictions, the latter of which has made it logistically impossible for us to proceed as planned," it said.
"We are keenly aware of the impact the loss of these events will have on our community, as well as the disappointment our generous sponsors and supporters will feel. We are sad for all of the stall holders, float entries, vendors, entertainers and local businesses who have invested many hours and much effort. However, the difficult decision had to be made."
Let's hope these great community events can return in 2022!

The rope has broken in our large umbrella, wondering if anyone local in North Canterbury fixes these? Have emailed and phoned a company based in Ellesmere but haven't heard back from them.

Palo Santo works well for smudging or clearing a room of negative energies, or simply for refreshing a room in your home after you’ve had guests or visitors to stay. The smell is so fresh and beautiful, we like to use it in place of traditional air fresheners and diffusers.

Dear neighbours,
Get to know Darfield gardener Bronwyn Adams-Hooper, who runs a horticulture programme for the 18- to 21-year-olds serving time in the youth unit at Christchurch Men’s Prison. With her help, they've been growing veges that win awards at their local A&P show.
