The green waste area, recycling centre and Resale Shop will remain open, and we will continue to accept Council-branded rubbish bags at the recycling centre.
Waimakariri Councillor Robbie Brine says the transfer station was built over 25 years ago.
“More than 416,000 tonnes of rubbish has been dropped into the pit and pushed into the compactor since the site opened in mid-1998, and this section of the pit floor has reached the end of its life. This renewal will ensure that we can keep providing the expected level of service to our customers until we can complete our planned site upgrades.”

They were the nicest beans we have ever grown, and we have tried lots of different varieties over the years. We normally try and save our own seed but for some reason missed doing so on these. When we have looked to purchase again, they don't seem to be available. I believe Yates also did a version as well. Just wondering if anyone might have some seed available - left from previous plantings or saved themselves that they might be willing to part with. Happy to pay or replace/swap with other seeds you might like. Many thanks, Miriam

Well have we got news for you!
Beat the Sunday blues and get yourself down to the Kaikanui Tavern Kaiapoi on Sunday 25 August and play card bingo with us!!!!
The games start at 1pm, why not pop down a bit before that….get a drink and maybe something to eat before the games begin….the food is yummy!
A couple of the girls here have already checked out the bingo and it’s a lot of fun!
Games are just $2 a round (so make sure you bring your coins). Half of the pot gets donated to the cats and kittens and the first person to call out Bingo gets the other half!
Jules at the Kaik will have some other great games for us too!
There will be a meat raffle kindly provided by the Kaik and they will donate half of the ticket sales to Kitty Kingdom! What a good bunch they are!
We will also have a Kitty Kingdom raffle on the day, with some really amazing prizes!!!
We promise you will have lots of fun….and belly laughs and we really hope to see you there.
